Clumped isotope presentations at Goldschmidt?

08 May 2012

Hi guys,

I was looking at the program for Goldschmidt, and  sessions are listed but not presentations.

So I was wondering whom amonst you would present something in Montreal? My group will have two presentions, one from Anne-Lise and one from myself (and co-authors).

Please let us know if you intend to present something, just curious to know what's ahead!

We've got one: Huntington,

We've got one:

Huntington, Peters, and Hoke. abstract #3217.00, Impact of seasonally variable soil carbonate formation on paleotemperature records from clumped isotopes
Session 10G, Paleotemperature proxies: processes and comparisons
Monday, June 25 2012
12:00 - 12:15

Hey, maybe we (interested parties on this forum) should get together for lunch or dinner in Montreal. I'll be at the meeting Sunday-Weds. Interest in dinner Monday?

Great idea Kate, I am in for dinner on Monday! I will be there Sun to Sat.

By the way, my oral presentation is abstract #777.00, 'A triple-proxy approach to reconstrucing seawater δ18O', by CÉDRIC M. JOHN, ANNA JOY DRURY, ANNE-LISE JOURDAN

Anne-Lise also has a poster, but I am not sure of when and what abstract number.

Hi Folks,

My group has a couple of presentations at Goldschmidt:

#2611 "Carbonate clumped isotope closure temperatures"  Passey BH, Henkes GA.  Session 061 "Earth's deep carbon cycle".  Monday 12:15-12:30

#1445 "Clumped isotope thermometry of Carboniferous brachiopods and the effects of burial heating"  Session 10G "Paleotemperature proxies: Processes and comparisons".  Henkes GA, Grossman EL, Yancey TE, Passey BH.  Monday 11:15-11:30.

Hi Guys, I'll be present

Hi Guys,

I'll be present Sunday-Friday but not presenting though one of the manufacturers who has taken over development of our mass spec has a stand etc.

Dinner on Monday sounds a great idea.

Hi Paul, Congratulations on

Hi Paul,

Congratulations on having your mass spec development taken over by one of the big guys! :)
Will they present some of that at their stand? Would be nice to see it if it is the case...

Hi guys, my group has 4 talks
Hi guys,
my group has 4 talks but I don't know the numbers :
Pater Douglas with Eocene high latitude climate using bivalves.
Shikma Zaarur with Pleistocene-Holocene paleo-climate record using clumped isotope measurments on fresh water snails.
Casey Saenger with Clumped and magnesium isotopes in corals: A comparison with traditional paleothermometers.
My talk: the title is about clumped isotopes in a multi proxy setting but I'll talk mainly on D47-d18O combination in Devils Hole in the context of non equilibrium.
I don't know if Rose Came is on this list: she'll present Brachiopod calibration work she did in my lab.
Monday dinner sounds fine. May I assume students are invited?

Hagit, Fantastic array of

Hagit,
Fantastic array of talks your group will be presenting!
For dinner, my feeling is that everyone who cares to join is welcome to, position is irrelevant. But I will let Kate comment on this, she is the one who came with this great initiative.

Hi Cedric,

Yes they'll be presenting some data, also D47 versus d47 and D48 versus d48 plots to show linearity etc.

See you in Montreal

Hi there,

I will also be presenting in session 10G on Monday afternoon:

abstract #2966.00 13C-18O bonds in dissovled inorganic carbon: Toward a better understanding of clumped isotope thermometer in biogenic carbonates

Dinner on Monday night sounds great. I am in.

see you all in Montreal,

since nobody objected so far,

since nobody objected so far, I'll inform my group about Monday dinner - anyway it looks like many of you present in the session 2 of them are chairing (Peter Douglas and Yige Zhang).

if any have an objection, speak now.

If students are invited, I'd be delighted to join in on fun Monday night. It will be nice to debrief and discuss following 10G. I'm looking forward to seeing you all, old faces and new.

Hi guys,

I am sitting at the airport and just realised we have not sorted this one out. First, everyone is welcome, so could you make sure to pass the word please?
Second, where and when do you want to meet? Anyone familiar with the meeting location?

Cheers,
Cedric

I'll email the clumpy list.

I don't know the location but we'll probably meet each other in the ice breaker - goldschmidt is not that big, or in the monday morning session that most people are talking.
