Current research focuses on multiple-scale characterisation of carbonate reservoirs and the development of surface-based modelling techniques to implement this information into reservoir models and flow simulation. Specifically the control and importance of carbonates’ heterogeneity on the fluid flow at different scales are assessed.
My experience in carbonates mainly comprises diagenetic alteration (karstification, dolomitization, fracturing) of carbonate reservoir analogues. The spatial controls and distribution of diagenetic and reservoir characteristics, based on novel 3D geostatistical approach, have proven to be essential for carbonate reservoir applications.
